Step 1: Check Forklift
Step 2: Inspect the Forklift
Ensure the brake pedal has a free play of 10-15mm. If not, adjust accordingly.
Use only high-quality brake fluid and replace it according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
Consider a HELI CPCD30 forklift experiencing brake drag on the left wheel. After initial inspections, the maintenance team suspected the handbrake line was stuck. Adjusting the gap between the brake drum and shoes temporarily resolved the issue. However, within 30 minutes of operation, the brake drum became excessively hot, indicating ongoing drag. A thorough investigation revealed that the piston in the brake caliper had swollen due to prolonged heat exposure, preventing the brake shoes from retracting fully.
Brake drag is a significant issue that can compromise the performance and safety of HELI CPCD30 forklifts. Regular inspections and timely maintenance are crucial to identify and rectify brake drag issues, ensuring optimal performance and longevity of the forklift. By being vigilant and proactive, operators can avoid the pitfalls of brake drag and maintain a safe working environment.
